Cindy Battino, BHSP

A History of Helping and Teaching

Life coach, energy worker, dancer, personal trainer, speaker, author, a life-changer, and happiness expert; these are just a few words to describe Cindy Battino.

Cindy officially began her career over 26 years ago. Unofficially, she doesn’t remember a time in her life when she did not consider the energy within and all that her mind and body could accomplish. Cindy has always wanted to help people find their happy place. She started in the fitness industry as an aerobics instructor and became a personal trainer. Her work included instructing other personal trainers in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. She also held a position as a high school training and conditioning coach in Northern Virginia. She learned to do full-body push-ups as a child and danced professionally until the age of 21.

Cindy had three epiphanies in her early 30’s that changed the trajectory of her life. First, Cindy realized that there was a discrepancy between her reality and other’s reality of her life. She had two beautiful, easy children, a nice home, and a loving husband. There was plenty of food in the fridge and everyone had plenty of clothes in their closets. If others were to look in the windows of her life they would have said that Cindy had a wonderful life. However, Cindy’s truth was that she was very unhappy and depressed. The second epiphany was that she realized that she was the common denominator of her unhappiness. Therefore, she was the common denominator of her happiness! This gave her hope. Finally, Cindy realized that due to her upbringing, she was never given the tools she needed to be happy, to have a happy, healthy marriage, or be the parent she wanted to be and the parent her children deserved. It was this last discovery that set Cindy into action and she began her personal Quest For Happiness. Cindy spent years in therapy, taking workshops, classes, and reading self-help books. She was a sponge to learn life and relationship skills and to be open to new ways at looking at life. Ultimately, she finished her second undergraduate degree at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. This is where most of her coaching skills come from.

Cindy’s epiphanies ultimately brought her to explore the energy world. This is where her life changed the most and where the physical, emotional, mental, and physical all came together. In 2003 Cindy began learning energy work. After four years of intensive study, she became a Brennan Healing Science Practitioner, earning her Bachelor of Science degree. She is certified as a second-degree Reiki worker. Cindy studied with Mietek Wirkus and completed his advanced classes on bio-energy. Mr. Wirkus was one of the first professional bio-energy therapists employed by a medical center to complement the work of physicians. She previously graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Economics in 1994.

She then founded Transformational Healing, relocating her practice to Middleburg, Virginia in 2011. Cindy sees clients in her Northern Virginia office. Most of her life coaching work is done virtually (via Skype, FaceTime, and phone) or with a combination of virtual and in-office sessions. This way Cindy can work with clients across the country.

Cindy uses the software Trello for her clients and has an extensive library of exercises, skills, concepts, resources, and homework to make each client’s journey unique and effective. Cindy is a teacher by trade so she chose to coach over counseling so that she can have a more directive approach with people. She can offer more choices and options so that the client can choose the path that most resonates with them. It is her goal that each client experience more joy on a daily basis and she knows it is possible.

“I came from an abusive home. I know what it’s like to be a victim. I know what it’s like to be angry. I know what it’s like to lack trust and be a control freak. Because of my background, I can have great compassion for most people’s pain and trauma. What I have found is that most people are like me and were never taught the life and relationship skills that guarantee a happier life. That is what I bring to them. I have walked the same path. I am not special. If I can learn to find happiness in my life, work, and marriage, then so can anyone else.”  – Cindy Battino

In Your Words

"Cindy has been guiding me on a journey for personal growth and healing for the last 18 months. I am developing strategies and skills to help overcome my pattern of negative, unhealthy behaviors connected to my childhood abandonment issues. Cindy has been an essential piece in my quest to develop and maintain healthy, happy, and loving relationships." - TB

"I was really glad to have Cindy to talk to when I was 14 and again this past spring. I was very anxious about certain things in both instances. Cindy explained to me how the mind works and how I was overthinking things. She also gave me tools to overcome my fears. After talking with her I felt much more relaxed and capable to deal with my issues." -Christian age 16

"Cindy helped me greatly through what I thought was a difficult divorce (I guess they are all difficult). Not only did Cindy provide emotional support but she was also willing to challenge my paradigms, push me out of my comfort zone and make me give serious thought to how I was interacting with the world. I am happier for it.." - S.A.
